WALL*E
Fred Willard, Jeff Garlin, Sigourney Weaver,
John Ratzenberger, and Kathy Najimy
What if mankind had to leave Earth, and somebody forgot to
turn the last robot off? After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he
was built for, Wall-E discovers a new purpose in life when he meets a
sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that Wall-E has
inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet’s future, and races
back to space to report her findings to the humans. Meanwhile, WALL-E
chases eve across the galaxy and sets into motion one of the most
exciting and imaginative comedy adventures ever brought to the big
screen. Joining WALL-E on his fantastic journey across a universe of
never-before-imagined visions of the future is a hilarious cast of
characters including a pet cockroach, and a heroic team of
malfunctioning misfit robots.
Rated G for all audiences.
This is Pixar's finest and most emotionally powerful film yet, and it draws on a wealth of cinematic resources that run the gamut from Chaplin's best to Buster Keaton, Jacques Tati, and even Martin and Lewis.--Austin Chronicle
A film that's both breathtakingly majestic and heartbreakingly intimate. --Village Voice
Get Smart
Steve Carrell, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne "The
Rock" Johnson, Alan Arkin, Terrence Stamp, Terry
Crews, David Koechner, and James Caan
When the headquarters of secret U.S. spy agency CONTROL is attacked and the identities of its agents compromised, the Chief has no choice but to promote his ever-eager analyst Maxwell Smart, who has always dreamt of working in the field alongside his idol, stalwart superstar Agent 23. Smart is partnered instead with the only other agent whose identity has not been compromised: the lovely-but-lethal veteran Agent 99. As Smart and 99 get closer to unraveling KAOS' master plan--and each other--they discover that key KAOS operative Siegfried and his sidekick, Shtarker, are scheming to cash in with their network of terror. With no field experience and little time, Smart--armed with nothing but a few spy-tech gadgets and his unbridled enthusiasm--must defeat KAOS if he is to save the day.
Rated PG13 for some rude humor, action violence and language.
It’s funny, exciting, preposterous, great to look at, and made with the same level of technical expertise we’d expect from a new Bond movie itself. And all of that is very nice, but nicer still is the perfect pitch of the casting.--Chicago Sun Times
The unexpected star is Hathaway, looking cool as a runway model in the role originated by Barbara Feldon, lithe as a (pink) panther, and displaying great comic timing.--Entertainment Weekly
The movie is fun, and hilarious, because of its child-like whimsy. --Film Threat
Steve Carell's portrayal of Max is just about perfect for the material. --ReelViews
Get Smart turns out to be a much more entertaining movie than its tedious trailers suggest. It's not going to redefine comedy as we know it, but it's amusing and briskly paced, busy with an engaging mix of supporting actors.--Miami Herald
Hancock
Will Smith, Charlize Theron, Jason Bateman
There are heroes… there are superheroes… and then there’s Hancock. With great power comes great responsibility – everyone knows that – everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock’s well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. The public has finally had enough – as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy.
Hancock isn’t the kind of man who cares what other people think – until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey, and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. Facing that will be Hancock’s greatest challenge yet – and a task that may prove impossible as Ray’s wife, Mary, insists that he’s a lost cause.
Rated PG13 for moderate violence, strong and aggressive language and crude humor.
The visual effects are stellar, but the true star is Smith, who again demonstrates acting chops as well as effortless charisma-- The Hollywood Reporter
