Alice in Wonderland

Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway,Michael Sheen, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, Crispin Glover, Christopher Lee

From Walt Disney Pictures and visionary director Tim Burton comes an epic fantasy adventure Alice In Wonderland, a magical and imaginative twist on some of the most beloved stories of all time. Johnny Depp stars as the Mad Hatter and Mia Wasikowska as 19-year-old Alice, who returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter. Alice embarks on a fantastical journey to find her true destiny and end the Red Queen’s reign of terror.

Rated PG for fantasy action/violence involving scary images and situations, and for a smoking caterpillar.
Running time  1h 44m

Wonderland is equal parts Lewis Carroll and Grace Slick. It’s inspired by Carroll’s "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass," but also, apparently, by Slick’s psychedelic ‘60s anthem, “White Rabbit.” It’s a trip, man. -Orlando Sentinel

Burton's most imaginative film in some time. -New Orleans Times-Picayune

Burton finely balances excess and restraint to create an absorbing, visually rich world of his very own. -Washington Post

Depp's nonsense-spouting Mad Hatter, decked out in a red fright wig and possibly more makeup than Michael Jackson, is an unlikely resistance leader. -New York Post

Crazy Heart

Jeff Bridges, Colin Farrell, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Robert Duvall, Sarah Jane Morris, Beth Grant, Annie Corley

An aging country music legend (Jeff Bridges) wrestles with his loss of fame at the hands of younger protege. Struggling to make ends meet playing one small gig to the next in the twilight of his career, he finds unlikely inspiration in a small town reporter (Maggie Gyllenhaal) and her young son.

Rated: R for language and brief sexuality.
Running Time: 1h 57m

Gyllenhaal is charming and makes unexpected choices in her performance, but this is Bridges' show, and he's as Best Actor-worthy as he's ever been. -New York Daily News

Bridges draws us deeply inside Blake’s moment-to-moment heartbreaks. He makes us root for him as we would root for a dear friend. Ultimately, his triumphs become our own. -Christian Science Monitor

This performance reminds us that Bridges is that rare actor who has never had to make that apology. Crazy Heart lets him be every bit as grand as we’d hope him to be. -Orlando Sentinel

Bridges performance in Crazy Heart, for my money the finest male performance of the year, reels us right back to understanding why: Instead of dressing up words, he sends them out naked. It's everything he subtracts that matters. -Salon.com

A small movie perfectly scaled to the big performance at its center. -New York Times

On first viewing, Crazy Heart seemed like a pretty good movie with one great performance. After a second time through, it's sneaking up on the title of my favorite film of the year. -Slate

Jeff Bridges is a virtual certainty to win his first Oscar, after four nominations. -Roger Ebert

It's merely a well-done, adult American movie--that is to say, a rarity. -Village Voice

From Paris With Love

John Travolta, Johnathan Rhys Meyers
Director Luc Besson (TAKEN and  TRANSPORTER)

A personal aide to the U.S. Ambassador in France, James Reese has an enviable life in Paris and a beautiful French girlfriend, but his real passion is his side job as a low-level operative for the CIA. All James wants is to become a bona fide agent and see some real action. So when he’s offered his first senior-level assignment, he can’t believe his good luck – until he meets his new partner, special agent Charlie Wax. A trigger-happy, wisecracking, loose cannon who’s been sent to Paris to stop a terrorist attack, Wax leads James on a white-knuckle shooting spree through the Parisian underworld that has James praying for his desk job. But when James discovers he’s a target of the same crime ring they’re trying to bust, he realizes there’s no turning back…and that Wax himself might be his only hope for making it through the next forty-eight hours alive.

Rated: R for strong bloody violence throughout, drug content, pervasive language and brief sexuality.
Running Time: 1h 40m

Morel and his crew certainly know how to stage action: the fight scenes and shootouts, the stairwell pursuits and motorway mayhem, are as good, if not better, than anything to come out of Hong Kong in a long time. -Philadephia Inquirer

It's pure comic book/popcorn action. If that's your kind of movie, it's hard to go wrong with this one. -Reel Views

I am ashamed to admit that this empty-headed, preposterous, possibly evil mélange of gunplay and high-speed car chases on Parisian boulevards is a feel-good movie that produces a buzz. -New York Times
