Take a stand against the wind and see a movie (March 11, 2009)

"WOW, you guys must love the increase of business this year, huh?"
I've heard that comment now, no less than a dozen times over the last week. Seems these folks read the same Denver paper I do on Sundays. Last week the Sunday Denver Post reported that movie theaters were up nationally 17.5% for the same period last year. With interest I read this because it is always funny to hear what people say about you or your business, when you're really the only one that knows... Movies provide a relatively inexpensive escape from what ails you, or as the story related: 'a comfortable dark corner to withdraw into', in the face of the economical challenges of today's society.
I'll agree that it's fun to retreat into a movie. I can't say we're up almost 20%, but we do count ourselves fortunate to have a business that hasn't closed, and we enjoy the predictable challenge of being self employed. Along those lines- if you have comments about the theater, we're the ones to listen to and take action on your suggestions. This week, we're at the front end of a project that will reshape the face of Reel Mountain. Remember when the bathrooms rocketed into coolness from their state of normal? If you witnessed the transformation, you'll know what I mean. Watch for something new, and send in your ideas if there's something you've been meaning to mention about the way the lobby looks or functions.
Customer comments are responsible for a couple of changes on this newsletter: clickable links for the theater website and emails, and a regular schedule of sending the newsletter to you (Wednesday morning between 7 and 8am). Keep 'em coming.
