Summer blockbusters are knocking on the door!

It's always fun to watch the big summer movies, but even more fun to take responsibility for their excellent presentation to our audiences... and we'll get another movie season underway in just a few days (X-Men Wolverine May 1st, Star Trek May 8th, etc).

Anytime we have a discussion about summer movies, it includes at least a mention of why we don't show every blockbuster of the summer season? There's a lot of movies we'd like to play, but just can't get them on the screen. Most films come under an agreement to play them for a specific period of time, and a rental rate that is set for the run of the film. That means when 3 great films come out on a big weekend, and we're playing last week's big films- we can't get them all in on opening day.

During the summer, we could do well with 4 or 5 screens, but come winter, we're very content with 3... Film booking is a moving target, and as Hollywood's messengers, we will admit to picking and choosing what messages we're conveying - but that means we're at the mercy of the product put out by the Hollywood film tycoons most weeks.

After you look at what films are coming this summer, you may want to start putting a few dollars away for tickets, because it's going to be a huge film summer.

We're excited to see you at the movies, and hear what films you're most interested in. Please send a quick email with your favorites.
