Race to the movies this weekend at the mountain (April 10, 2009)

tell you, you customers are good for letter topics! Two weekends ago,
we were in the midst of a birthday party for a young boy. His friends
were surrounding him, heading for the auditorium, laden with drinks and
popcorn and a man came in the front door- obviously not attached to the
party. He asked standard questions about movies- what they were about,
times etc. He asked what the commotion was if there wasn't a movie for
several hours yet? I replied that it was a private birthday party. He
obviously thought for a minute and was mystified by what I had
answered, so he asked the question: WHAT do you do at a theater
birthday party?? I nodded my head toward the throng of kids and said
'mostly that'. At that particular time they were taking a lap through
the lobby before settling into their seats- and moving at about 50
miles per hour!
In addition to the standard running laps by small children (each lap around the permiter of every theater and the lobby equals 1/8 mile).... Private rentals have included time to: sing along with Mamma Mia (girls night out), sing along with The Sound Of Music (midnight bachelorette party), watch and critique Cars (kids birthday), obstacle course with water feature (kids birthday party), pinata (kids birthday- the rigging stays in the ceiling it gets used so much), premieres of movies for The Outlaw, a kids TV show series, Games on the big screen: XBox 22 feet wide (overnight teen lock in), Wii (staff having fun) and this July, we have booked a few hours for a family reunion to showcase highlights of home movies during a big family reunion!
As you can see, there are a few fun ideas, and one that stands out that has only been done once, but you might want to keep in the back of your mind for a future surprise: a private date, with only 2 people, with all the standard theater services and amenities- but ... private, and very special and memorable.
As the cold winds blow you back inside, consider making memories while taking full advantage of the fun inside, in our toasty auditoriums.
Did I mention when we set the plush toy crane to 'PLAY til YOU WIN' at parties?! Fun, and great party momentos.
