This
weekend, our family left town for a couple of days. As you know,
leaving real life for a couple of days can bring into focus your
perspective on your own life- and this weekend did that for me (again).
One of the experiences came from watching Jim Carrey in the 2001 film,
The Majestic. It's hard to succinctly describe what happens in this
movie, but it's worth watching. One of the story lines is the
restoration of a dilapidated movie theater, which sparkled and beckoned
to people at the peak of it's glory, when going to the movies was an
EVENT. The motivational speech came from actor Martin Landau, who
played the theater owner as he recollected the way people should be
treated when they visit the movies to escape. It reinforced what we
must deliver to you, each time you come in. Whether a fun trip, or
dramatic tour through 1945 Germany- we're trying to deliver an
experience that lets you get away.
If you find that we fall short of your expectations, or if your visit goes above average, I'd like to hear from you. I can't be in the theater for every show, but each time the projector flickers to life I believe we deliver a chance for you to 'escape' real life for even 90 minutes. Our staff will watch this film in the near future, and perhaps annually to get that kick start with pizazz that only Hollywood can deliver. Movies motivate us, too.
