Kelly,
my smart, loving wife, called me out on the last 3 weeks of
newsletters. She said they all sounded the same, if I may paraphrase:
"The winter is slower, we like our regular customers, thanks for
shopping at Reel Mountain". She laughed (with me?) that I SAY how much we like our customers, but we're not DOING anything about it.
That was enough of a call to action for me: February is now Reel Mountain Customer Appreciation Month.

It's
true. We may not be breaking sales records, or seeing fist fights over
parking spots.. but we are getting the chance to reconnect with
everyone that has a reel fan card. Summer: every 10th person has the
card, now- almost everyone. Which means our favorite people are all
around us as we roll into the Oscars, Tuesday Movie Club, MidWeek
matinees, etc etc.

All this time, I have been using the theater as an excuse to indulge some personal desires. It came up yesterday with one of our staff. She correctly called me on one of them- the disco ball. The "silver Christmas" theme came about as an excuse to get the 30" mirror ball out of storage. We never got tired of it either! Look out Oscar, here they come!
Beginning
this weekend (actually a couple of months ago with HURT LOCKER), we'll
be bringing a series of films into Estes Park that are strong
contenders for the coveted Academy Awards.
These films are a
world apart from the cookie cutter crowd pleasers that we rely on to
make money to pay the bills. These are real movies: plot, scenery and
all. The problem with 'real movies' is that they don't drag in every
